Type Magents
This series of physcial typefaces was created using fabrication techniques such as laser cutting, 3D printing, mold making, and uv printing. Each typeface is produced in a different material, with its physical qualities shaping how the letters are perceived. The concrete type feels heavy and brutalist, while the wooden, block-like forms appear lighter. The fonts that I referenced which include Source Code, Helvetica, and a bit-based font, were either chosen because of their history of being designed for digital screens or in the case of Helvetica, for it’s common usage in digital design due to high readability. The physcial typefaces are magnets so people are free to rearrange them on a magnetic board however they’d like.
